2010 Vancouver Olympics

The Olympics curling was started about 1500s in Scotland and was supposedly brought to North America by British multitudes in the 1700s during the world-shattering War. Curling’s Olympic debut was presented at the innovative Olympic Games in 1924. It was originated in 1932 Lake Placid Games as a exhibition sport but then carried on a 56-year Olympic hiatus, until it went back as a exhibition sport at the 1988 and 1992 Games.

Each competition is made up of ends, or periods, where two teams of four players each take turns sliding 42-pound refined granite stones down a sheet of ice towards a bulls-eye made up of four concentric circles. This bulls-eye, which is 12 ft in diameter, is recognized as the “house” and its hub the “tee.” The tee is situated 126 ft from where the handgun starts. When the pebble is released by the handgun, it is done with a particular method that involves a curl of the wrist.

Like a bowling ball clasps down a passage, the stone moves smoothly down the ice. This curvature is recognized as the “curl.” As the boulder curls towards its planned goal (possibly the tee, or perhaps a challenger nugget that happens to be in the method) the other three players flounce the ice with brooms, having stone to speed up or alteration directions.
